This plant tour is FREE, and open to the first 30 TSMA members registered. You are encouraged to contact Julie Ko (jko@ccswin.com) to register.

VU Haas Technical Education Center

The largest crowd to attend a Tri-State Manufacturers’ Alliance (TSMA) quarterly event was present on March 29, 2011 as keynote speaker Chris Fuller delivered a motivational presentation on leadership. The Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center’s Assembly Hall has capacity for 400, and TSMA members filled it to the brim!

“The presentation was AWESOME!” wrote John Catt, sales manager at Uniseal.

Rich Gimmel, president of Atlas Machine & Supply, said following the event, “Great meeting this morning…Amazing to see 400 manufacturing executives together in one location like that. [TSMA] truly has built something special.”

Fuller delivered a powerful message about becoming a 360 degree leader and leading yourself first so that you can effectively influence your boss, your coworkers and your customers. He encouraged the crowd to “lead where you’re strong and team where you’re not.”

Prior to Fuller’s presentation, TSMA Chairman Herb Rawlings gave an overview of the organization and spoke about two key upcoming events: the TSMA plant tour at Vincennes University’s Haas Technical Education Center on April 21 and the TSMA Second Quarter Event (a Lean Systems Workshop) on June 16. He encouraged everyone to save the date!

Last but not least, the Global Business Peer Group lead, Charley Storms, spoke about the value of peer group involvement.  TSMA has seven active peer groups, and many members agree that involvement with one of these groups is key to gaining practical knowledge and counsel from peers on the challenges and opportunities facing today’s manufacturers.

The 360° Leader™ – The John Maxwell Company

Leading Beyond Your Title

Keynote Speaker – Chris Fuller

TUESDAY, MARCH 29, 2011

Regardless of your position in your organization, you can learn to lead! Leadership is influence – nothing more, nothing less. That is why everyone needs to learn how to lead – or, said another way – how to have influence in their organization.

Some of the greatest misconceptions about leadership come from misunderstandings of what leadership actually is. Many think that leadership is a position or title; others think that leadership is dictatorship; still others think that leadership is a trait you must be born with. Leadership is influence, and everyone can influence and learn how to become influential.

If you are in the “middle of the pack” or a senior leader in your organization, this keynote address was designed with you in mind! It is based on Dr. John C. Maxwell’s book The 360° Leader. You’ll learn how to effectively “lead up”, “lead across” and “lead down” – all components necessary in becoming a 360° leader.

His practical approach to achieving results has been duplicated and replicated in dozens of ventures. The majority of his training has been done with not only executive level clientele, but has been strategically oriented toward middle and front-line management.

The Tri-State Manufacturers’ Alliance (TSMA) would like to thank Berry Plastics for hosting a plant tour on February 10, 2011.

TSMA plant tours are always popular events, and this one was no exception.  Registration for the plant tour was full within several hours of being announced!

Berry Plastics allowed 30 TSMA members to see first-hand how they have remained a leading manufacturer and marketer of plastic packaging products.  TSMA members walked away from the dynamic presentation having gained best practices and an introduction to new processes thanks to observing Berry’s operations.

TSMA plant tours are one reason why this extraordinary group continues to grow.  Have you become a TSMA member yet?  Quarterly events, peer groups, plant tours, networking sessions…the success is all in the numbers.
